2006 Beach Cleaning - Part II

Members of the Dubuque Phlockers donated 35 man-hours toward the cleaning of a local beach located on the banks of the Mississippi River and had a tremendously phun time while doing it! See the "Part I" excursion!

On Saturday, October 14, nine members of the club and an extra volunteer guest convened at Spruce Creek Campground and gathered around a tiki bar, traveled by boat to the beach while listening to ballads of Buffett. In other words, it was the second leg of the Dubuque "Boats, Beaches, Bars and Ballads" tour.

The Pre-cleaning Warm-up

The Dubuque Phlockers would like to thank (from Fin Left to Fin Right) Ron Markus, Barb Markus, Ladd Nelson, Gina Noel, Bob Noel, Chris Sanderfield, Kim Maier, Jeff Sanderfield, Jason Reicher and volunteer guest Kim Nelson (not pictured) for contributing their time and resources to this successful project!

The group collectively removed approximately 80 pounds of litter and other debris from "Bellevue Beach." The recycling efforts of the aluminum cans that were collected raised $11.60 that will be going to a charity to be named later.

The Booty We Collected

Some came by land, others by sea (well, river actually). Although the wind was brisk, we had well over 50 "feet of waterline nicely making way!"

The Phlock on the Water

With the beautiful Iowa autumn colors in full force, members of the Dubuque phlock decided to continue the phun by making a camping weekend out of the event.
