Critter Cruise 2008
On Sunday, October 19, 2008, the Dubuque Phlockers celebrated with phellow phriends and parrotheads and raised $1,114.96 in cash donations and an additional $175.00 in supplies for the benefit of the Dubuque Regional Humane Society!
The Dubuque Phlockers, in conjunction with Catfish Charlie's and the American Lady gathered together to produce another "party with a purpose" to the delight of nearly 100 parrotheads from Dubuque and the surrounding communities. Our afternoon began with a pre-party "deck-side" at Catfish Charlie's with live, accoustical Buffett-style music from Dubuque's own Pirate Over 50.
Following our warm-up, guests boarded the American Lady site-seeing yacht for a 90-minute fall foliage cruise through the picturesque bluffs that overlook the Mississippi River basin. The cruise included sloppy joe's, chips and complimentary beverages for both young and old and Mother Nature cooperated once again for us and provide some spectacular splendor for our viewing pleasure.
The party continued as we returned to Catfish Charlie's with more entertainment from the Pirate Over 50 along with silent auctions and a realization that we were indeed, "partying with a purpose."
Through the generous donations from Catfish Charlie's and the American Lady, our guests enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon and helped generate needed supplies and funds for the lost or abandoned "critters" in the Dubuque area!
