Meeting Minutes – July 13, 2006

Meeting called to order at 6:00pm

New Business

  1. Discussed Attorney issues: Tax Exempt status. $350-$400 estimated depending upon which route to go (EIN# - Articles of Corporation)
  2. Discussed tax issues: Bob Noel will talk with John Merges to find out about filing taxes
  3. Discussed tickets for Buffett Venues: PHIP gives approx 300 per venue to be shared amongst all of the closest Chapters. Number given to each Chapter is based upon % of membership and your Chapter must show 1 year of charitable work before being eligible.
  4. Faithful Order of the Fruitcake donated to our Chapter a variety of Buffett products. We will be giving them out at the Midtown Treasure Hunt party on Saturday July 22. Laura will talk with Sandi (at Midtown) and Bob Noel will talk with the Tiki Bar about putting up a sign with “Dubuque Phlockers” at the party. Will also have cards for people to fill out if interested in getting information about our Chapter.
  5. Discussed having a meeting on Aug 3 but was decided to hold it Aug 8 at Courtside during the Buffett party being put on by Courtside. Also discussed talking with Courtside about us having a sign made for that party with our name and/or their name, thus promoting us/them.
  6. Discussed the fact that monies taken in cash must be given some kind of a receipt.
  7. Motion was made to volunteer at the Taste of Dubuque as a group. Discussion on motion determined that the timing was too late for us to participate this year, but will try again next year. No vote on original motion.
  8. Motion to have President attend the Make A Wish meeting at Finley Aug 1. Motion passed. Ladd will try to attend the meeting.
  9. Discussed that at our next business meeting we should have some ideas for getting a logo made up for our Chapter.
