Meeting Minutes – October 25, 2006

In Attendance

Ladd Nelson, Bob Noel, Jeff Sanderfield, Chris Sanderfield, Laura Schauer, Gina Noel, Ron Markus, Barb Markus, Al Ronek. Mark Steuer also popped in and out during our business meeting to discuss how he and Kirchhoff Distributing can assist our club.

Treasurer's Report

Discussion of club’s financial status and expected expenditures for 2007. Ladd submitted expenditures that he knows we will need to cover in ’07.

New Business

  1. Discussed the “hosting” of our website possibly at Net-Smart. Thank you to Kevin Lynch for offering this service.
  2. The winner of the logo contest was Mike Keating. Congratulations Mike!! Discussed how and where to use the new logo.
  3. Discussed the Buffet Weekend at Chestnut Mountain:
    • Jan 6-7, 2007
    • Laura contacted Corona about marketing materials
    • Laura contacted Chestnut about working with them on this weekend (doing whatever we can to help)
    • Ladd mentioned trying to set up a table to raise money for our nonprofit organization
  4. Al talked about the Buffett Party at the Lux Club this Friday night (October 27):
    • We will have our banner at the Lux that night
  5. Al (Pirate over 50) is playing Friday Jan 19th at the Peosta Rec Center for their “Midwinter Beach Party” (8pm-12am). Al will talk with Brett Firzlaff about having a cosponsor (us). Al thinks that we may be able to volunteer to serve beer that night and/or have a 50/50 raffle as a fundraiser. He will discuss this all with Brett.
  6. Gina suggested the possibility of us selling leis as a fundraiser at something like this also.
  7. Discussed yearly activities that people can count on our club being there (i.e. Dog-O-Ween, Chestnut Mountain Buffet weekend, etc.)
  8. Ron discussed Dog-O-Ween:
    • Judges are Chris, Kim, Gina, Bob, and Ron. Judges will meet at Jumpers (12:30) and carpool over to Theisen’s due to lack of parking during this event.
    • Motion by Ladd, second by Ron to make a $100.00 donation to the DBQ Humane Society at Dog-O-Ween. Motion passed 9-0
  9. Mark Steuer discussed the authority to print Corona items for our club. We will use Mark as our contact for any items that we want printed.
  10. Mark Steuer also discussed that Adam (Kirchoff Distributing graphic artist) will help us with our logo for printing materials. Mark is willing to put us into a budget for Corona/PHlockers signage and/or other items. “Thank you” to Mark, Adam, and Kirchoff Distributing for your help with the DBQ Phlockers!!!
  11. Mark also talked with us about using the radio stations for advertising when doing volunteer work and/or raising money for our nonprofit groups. Mark can talk with Cumulus Broadcasting about this.
  12. Al will be playing at Fats on Saturday Nov 4th.
  13. Tax Exempt (501C3 or 501C7) status discussed. Ladd is going to discuss this with the lawyer. Gina Noel will discuss this with John (CPA).
  14. Jeff talked with Keith about the Yardarm Grand Opening and our club being involved with that. Keith was very interested in talking about this more but was busy putting away boats (busy time of the season for him). Keith is to contact Jeff before he leaves for Florida (Keith going to Florida not Jeff… darn!!). Keith says that he will be visiting Key West Margaritaville several times while in Florida. I think that he was trying to make me jealous.
  15. Discussed the purchase of more business cards.
  16. Discussed the absenteeism of elected & appointed directors of the club. If not attending meetings, as noted in the by-laws, those directors will be removed from office.
  17. Motion by Ladd, second by Ron to adjourn. Motion passed 9-0.
