Meeting Minutes – October 25, 2007

In Attendance

Old Business

  1. Prior to Pet-O-Ween, we will be meeting at the Dog House at 10:30 am.
  2. Prior to PetCo’s judging event, we will be meeting at the Lux Club at noon.
  3. Sport your Buffett wear for these activities!!
  4. Discussion of Bark and Howl and participation next year. We will be participating again next year to help out the Dubuque Humane Society.
  5. Discussed fund-raising results from Phlock Through the Lock and from other events earlier in the year. Motion by Kim, second by Ladd to donate $700 to the Dubuque Humane Society from recent fundraising activities. Motion passed 9-0

New Business

  1. Discussion of membership dues. Ladd suggested a breakdown of 3 types for membership dues. Motion by Ladd, second by Kim to have full price membership dues prior to July 1, from July 1 to Sept 31 would be 50% off, and anyone joining on or after Oct 1 would pay full price membership but would be good through December 31st of the following year. Motion passed 9-0
  2. Discussion of how we can get more members involved and volunteering for activities. Discussion of the points system currently in place for volunteering and attending activities:
    • Motion by Ladd, second by Laura that effective January 1, 2008 any member who participates in club sanctioned community service projects will earn 4 club points rather than the 2 club points currently given. Motion passed 9-0
    • Motion by Ladd, second by Kim to give 3 initial points to any club member who refers a new member to the club and then to award that member 1 point every year thereafter when their referred member renews their membership. Motion passed 9-0
    • Motion by Ladd, second by Laura to get rid of the 1 point that is awarded to members for every $100 in charitable contributions to the Dubuque Phlockers. Motion passed 9-0
