Meeting Minutes – February 21, 2008

Meeting called to order at 7:15pm.

Ladd Nelson, Bob Noel, Chris Sanderfield, Ron Markus, Barb Markus, Laura Schauer, Al Ronek, Randy Forsythe, Kim Maiers, Larry Ewert

Old Business

  1. Our club received our paperwork from the PHIP. We are resanctioned for another year.
  2. Havana Day Dreamin' sent a thank you letter to our club. Thank you goes out to Barb for putting together the auction basket that we donated to the Quad Cities club.
  3. Another thank you goes out to Kim for organizing the volunteers for the Make-A-Wish Ball.
  4. Our club heard back from the City of Dubuque 175th Anniversary Grant Program. Unfortunately, our club did not earn a grant. The city did recognize our efforts in making Dubuque a better place.
  5. Discussion of Paradise In Peosta being held on Friday, February 22nd. Selling prices for leis, blinkies, and mugs.
    • Jeff to get money for making change at the event.
    • Gina will bring money box.
    • Ron and Barb to bring merchandise that they have and the Corona canopy.
    • Ladd bringing chalkboard and t-shirts.
    • Kim organizing who is assigned to what activity at the event.

New Business

  1. Merchandise purchased to use at Paradise In Peosta and throughout this year include leis, blinkie lights, and mugs. Proceeds will go to help increase our charity fundraising efforts.
  2. Motion by Ron, second by Ladd to set-up a merchandise account that our club will keep funds in until it reaches a threshold of $500. Use this money for purchasing merchandise to increase our charity fundraising efforts. Motion passed 10-0
  3. Discussion of holding a fundraising Luau Party at Walnut Acres Campgrounds in Monticello. Proceeds would go to Camp Courageous. Watch for upcoming information about this fundraising "party with a purpose" to be held this summer (likely in August).

Motion by Ladd, second by Chris to adjourn. Motion passed 10-0
