Meeting Minutes - January 15, 2009

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Old Business

  1. 501c3 - Received acknowledgement from IRS, should know something in 60 days.

New Business

OPH 09

  1. Marketing - Christy will check on getting yard signs, papers and billboards. Jody is the advertising czar. Need to make contacts for the bank marquees.
  2. Coozies - (Randy) We got a new vendor for the coozies, initial price of 79 cents a piece. Need sponsors a minimum of two weeks ahead.
  3. Set OPH sponsor deadlines, Randy will tweak levels and mark changes in bold. Need sponsor list by 4/10/09. Ladd has sponsor list online.
  4. Kirchoff - Ron will talk to them to see if they will cover radio spots for OPH. Will also ask for $1000- $1500 worth of promo items.
  5. Pre party ideas - start time 2pm.
  6. Raffle ticket prices - $1 for 1, 6 for $5, 15 for $10.
  7. Quilt raffle tickets - would like to sell on the website.
  8. Auction/live auction - suggestion for 3 items, 1 quilt plus two items from Kirchoff.
  9. Laura to check with Best Buy on price of large screen TV.
  10. Items for sale - Blinkies have been ordered, Mugs, shirts and coozies.

Miscellaneous

  1. Baskets - In the past the club has donated baskets to neighboring PH clubs, discussion if the club should continue this effort. Talk centered on if the effort was returned in kind. Also on the charity/benefit involved.
  2. OPH 2010 - has been set for the first Sat in May and will be at the Grand River Center. Room rate offered is $99 with a guaranteed block of 10 rooms.
  3. Board members all have an email address associated with the page. Ladd sent an email to those involved.
  4. New logo has been approved - Don discussed shirts and had some prices/styles to choose.

Membership

Membership is at 105. Still several renewals not returned. Christy will send a list out and asks that if any members know the people who haven't renewed, to please try to make contact with them and see if they are interested in renewing.

Social Events

Upcoming regional events

  1. Quad City Havana Day Dreaming - Jan 24th, currently have about 28 Dubuque members planning on going.
  2. Regional Leaders Meeting - April 17th, Barb and Ron will be going. Anyone interested in going, please contact Ron.
  3. Wild Rose Casino - hosting a Trop-Rock band on Feb 13.
  4. Peosta event is off.
  5. Jumper's will be having an event on Fat Tuesday, Al will have further details as they develop.
  6. Rockford - February 28th, Pirates over 40 will be playing.
  7. Make-A-Wish Gala - Feb 7, We have several members who will be volunteering. Please dress appropriately... Business casual is acceptable.
  8. Next Social - Jumpers, Feb 5th.
