Meeting Minutes – June 25, 2009

Spirits Bar and Grill

Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Old Business

  1. No old business.

New Business

  1. VP Announcement - Randy Forsyth will be moving to Atlanta GA, he will continue to be a member, but an Interim election is needed for a replacement. Ron Markus made a motion to hold interim elections at the next business meeting. 2nd by Ladd Nelson.
  2. Business and socials will tend to start at 6:30. Business meetings on Thursdays, Socials will be random to allow the opportunity for everyone to attend.
  3. Club emails - discussion about who can send and what can be sent. Determined that it's not a problem today. Try to keep it legitimate and continue with descretion.
  4. Fall Event - the club has $3500 for general use. Discussion on a charity event for the fall. Motion was made by Ron Markus to hold a charity event in the fall with proceeds going to Albrecht Acres. Christy Kies seconded, motion carries. Details to be worked out with Catfish Charlie's and the use of the American Lady.
  5. Check presentation to Judy Kilburg from the Make A Wish Foundation, a check was given in the amount of $8000. Photos will be updated on the club website.
  6. Ladd Nelson would like to continue doing beach clean-ups, date and time to be determined.
  7. Ron is going to start a discussion with the Midwest PHIP director about the possibility of having a Regional event involving all the clubs in the area and having a marathon of local favorite trop-rock bands.
  8. Shirt logo update - Brandel in Kieler can get us hats for $8.00.

OPH 2010

  • May 1, 2010 is the date. Grand River Center.
  • Band discussion of prices... bands being considered include Cedar Island Band, Pirate over 40 with Mississippi Band, Low Tides and High Ways. Brenda Herber made a motion to book the Cedar Island Band, Jody Bradley seconded, motion did not pass pending further discussion with the bands to cut a better deal. Ron will follow up and present at next business meeting.
  • Christy purchased sand buckets from the Dollar Store to be used and decorated for center pieces, welcomes ideas.
  • Club will reconsider the time frame of the silent auctions, band and drawings in an effort to maximize all efforts.

  • Albrecht Acres - Aug 16, Prime Rib dinner
  • Albrecht Acres June 27, Duck Race and Picnic - Ron made a motion to spend $40 from club funds to buy 10 ducks. Cindy Tucker seconded, motion passes.
  • Isle Of Iowa golf outing - June 20
  • July 1 - Social at the Yardarm at 6:30.
  • August 6th - Social at Graffiti Nights in East Dubuque. Rain location will be Mid-Town Marina.
  • July 16th - July Business meeting at Spirits at 6:30.
