Meeting Minutes – July 16, 2009

Meeting called to order at 6:40 p.m.

Old Business

  1. No old business this month.

New Business

  1. Election held for Vice President. Randy Forsyth is unable to finish out his term due to relocation through work. Mike Bradley was nominated to take over the vacancy. An election was held, Mike Bradley was voted unanimously as Vice President. Ron Marcus made a motion to accept the election results as final. Ladd Nelson seconded, motion passes.
  2. Fundraiser for Albrecht Acres, Sept 19 at Catfish Charlie's. Cruise on the American Lady from 3:30 to 5pm. Drink specials during the cruise. An after cruise party will be held at 5, silent auction will be held during this time. Al Ronek and Steve Cavanaugh will play on the deck weather permitting/inside if inclement. Ladd Nelson made a motion for the club to match funds raised by the silent auction up to $750. Ron Marcus seconded, motion passes.
  3. A check for $250 was sent by the Galena Visitors Bureau for the volunteer work during the Triathlon in May.

OPH 2010

  • Bands - Don Schwenker made a motion to book the Cedar Island band, Ladd Nelson seconded. Motion passes. Ron will proceed with getting a contract and book the date.
  • Decorations - Christy needs some creative ideas for the sand buckets, suggestions can be sent to Christy.
  • Discussion on making it a benefit for a different charity due to the close proximity of the MAW Gala in February. Anyone with suggestions please forward to Ron or board member. Item tabled for a later discussion.

Upcoming events

  • August 1 - Taste of Dubuque - Phlockers will be serving beer from 7-9 p.m. at the south beer stand.
  • August 6 - Club Social - East Dubuque at the Graffiti Nights.
  • August 8 - Wingfest in East Dubuque - taste a variety of wings prepared by vendors and vote on the best.
  • Sept 5 - Pirate Party at Mid-Town Marina - $25 team registration, Mr. Meyers playing. This will be a club event, parrot points will be given for attending.
