Meeting Minutes – March 18, 2010

Spirits Bar and Grill

Meeting called to order at 6:40 p.m.

Old Business - OPH 2010

  1. Discussion on OPH raffle items:
    • First Prize - $500 cash
    • Second Prize - Hotel package or MiTM Power washer
    • Third Prize - $50 cash
    Ron Markus made a motion to accept the above items for the 2010 OPH Raffle. Ladd seconded. All were in favor. Motion passes.
  2. Group Leaders for committees- Anyone interested in being a group leader is asked to send Jessica Oberbroeckling an email stating so and what area. She will set up a schedule and let everyone know where they are needed.
  3. Pirate ship - The Black Pearl is slated to be at OPH and used as a back drop for the band. They will bring it in and set it up and come and get it when finished.
  4. 2 Year Raffle license - The club now has a 2-year gambling license to cover any impromptu raffles we might have during fundraisers.
  5. Volunteers - Outside volunteers are welcome to help at OPH. So far, Kohl’s has offered, Albrecht Acres will be contacted to see if they want to send anyone to help.
  6. Decorations - Centerpieces were discussed; Sand buckets, sea shells, star fish and decals will be used. Approximate cost per piece is $6-$8.
  7. Laura Schauer made a motion to give the decoration committee $100 to be spent on decorations for the room. Jan Troy seconded, all were in favor. Motion passes.

New Business

  1. OPH 2011 - Verbal Agreement with Julien Hotel. Discussion over continuing what we are doing or downsize. It’s a lot of work for OPH each year. General opinion was to keep doing one large fundraiser a year and small ones throughout.
  2. Dubuque Phlockers are now members of the Dubuque Chamber of Commerce. This summer their events have a Jimmy Buffett theme and the club is asked to host games at each of the events. Ron will email dates and ideas.
  3. April Social is set for April 1. Details to be finalized but possibly it will be a moving social to collect donations for OPH.

A motion by Christy to adjourn, seconded by Barb. Meeting adjourned at 8 p.m.
